The Trout Derby runs Summer 20–21 by the Cindersap Forest river near Marnie's Ranch. Rainbow Trout bite all day in any weather, and every catch has a 33% chance of a Golden Tag; multiple trout in one catch multiply the chance but still yield at most one tag.
Golden Tags carry over between days and years and are exchanged one at a time at the booth. The first prize is always a Tent Kit, followed by a fixed sequence that starts with the Bucket Hat and ends with Omni Geodes.

Derby booth: exchange Golden Tags for prizes. Willy's Fish Shop is closed during the event.
Shops and homes stay open, time passes normally, and animals still need feeding. Golden Tags carry over between days and years. Willy is at the derby and can still receive gifts.
